About Me

How we decide to see this world is an individual choice. My perspectives and opinions shape my state of being, my relationships and ultimately my reasons for existing. My views of this world can therefore become my gift to it or my burden upon it.

When I go out with my camera, I tend to seek out the beauty, essence and meaning in things where otherwise I’d been unaware. I find that I’m more captivated and connected with the world around me when my camera is in hand.

For me, photography cultivates a state of being where freedom and connection dominate constraint and isolation. It’s from this state that I’m in the presence of something that is greater and more potent than myself. Within that, I find myself compelled to view the world in ways that gift it, rather than burden it.

This is why I photograph.

An Engagement Shoot in Seattle’s Industrial Disctrict

When people I hardly know treat me like family, it reminds me of one of the core values that I feel is vital to us in this human experience…connection. Molly and Ken are the kind of people that you want to connect to and be friends with. They both possess an openness and warmth that I love in people. If I were to sum them up in a phrase it would be, “our door is always open”. This is how I feel when I’m around these two. They are astute entrepreneurs both with their own really cool businesses that I will blog about when I put their wedding images up next month. I’m thrilled to be photographing their DIY wedding in Index, WA next week.
