About Me

How we decide to see this world is an individual choice. My perspectives and opinions shape my state of being, my relationships and ultimately my reasons for existing. My views of this world can therefore become my gift to it or my burden upon it.

When I go out with my camera, I tend to seek out the beauty, essence and meaning in things where otherwise I’d been unaware. I find that I’m more captivated and connected with the world around me when my camera is in hand.

For me, photography cultivates a state of being where freedom and connection dominate constraint and isolation. It’s from this state that I’m in the presence of something that is greater and more potent than myself. Within that, I find myself compelled to view the world in ways that gift it, rather than burden it.

This is why I photograph.

August 9, 2010 - 7:47 pm Mark Edmondson - Troy and I agreed that these are the best wedding photos and among the best photography we have ever seen, full stop! As devoted amateur photographers ourselves we are very appreciative of the focus, lighting and overall composition that has gone into these marvelous images. These could be hanging in world class museums. We have spent countless hours, all over the world, in major museums and tiny shops enjoying the work of great photographic artists, only to find that we had a genius much closer to home. Bravo!

August 3, 2010 - 9:21 am Whitney Stromer - I am speechless......truly speechless. I have a heartfelt appreciation for your artistic abilities, your dedication, and your professionalism. We are so lucky to have had you and Roman. Thank you thank you thank you.

Two Minute Wedding: The Quickest Ceremony and Reception You’ll Ever See

Have you ever seen a wedding ceremony and reception that happened in less than two minutes? Well, I hadn’t either. I thought it would be really cool to see if I could squeeze and entire day’s events into a reel that was less than two minutes long. Make sure you watch closely because the actual ceremony is only seconds long. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, there are just over 1300 images in this compilation. The wedding was shot at the historic Sodo Park venue in Seattle, WA and was catered by Herban Feast. I’ve never seen or heard of anyone doing a time lapse of a wedding, and I wanted to be the first…so here it is, the world premiere. Enjoy!

Thanks to Kathy and Bren (an amazingly sweet couple) who allowed me the honor of photographing their love filled wedding. Wedding images coming soon!

June 7, 2010 - 11:24 pm Becca - I love Iron and Wine... found them by accident and can't stop listening. I wish Sam could write a song for my daughter and I. Her father was my first love, he left me expecting her at 18, and then drown in our lake when she was 2. My own dad drown when I was 2, under the water from a firehose under a collapsed house, putting out a fire. When I was 15 I went looking for his family with her father, and my girl is doing the same thing now. I feel this sense of things repeating, and it's pulling me into the past. I see them looking up for me from the water, like there's something I should do. It's haunting. I wish there was a way to express it all. Probably silly, but it is what it is.
